Pune: Pune Police have increased the pace of their investigation into the Kalyaninagar car accident case after the orders of Chief Minister Eknath Shinde. As a part of the ongoing investigation, Pune police have detained the grandfather of the accused, Surendra Kumar Agarwal, after a long interrogation. He was charged with threatening and detaining the car driver and forcing him to change his statements to the police.

Yesterday, the Pune police conducted a long interrogation in the case of witness tampering. Pune police got information that Surendra Kumar Agarwal and Vishal Agarwal intimidated and coerced the car driver to alter his testimony and further detained him in the house to refrain from testifying. Accordingly, police conducted interrogations of Surendra Kumar Agarwal and detained him.

During the investigation, the grandfather confessed to having given the car key to his grandson, Vedant Agarwal, who is the main culprit in the accident case. Additionally, Surendra Kumar Agarwal has also been implicated in another case due to his association with the Chota Rajan, which is currently under trial. An inquiry into this matter is also ongoing.

According to police information, at the time of the accident, Gangaram Pujari, the car's driver, was seated next to the minor involved. However, following the incident, the minor and his family attempted to frame Pujari for the accident. Additionally, the minor's father and grandfather detained Pujari and coerced him into taking responsibility for the crash.

In this case, the accused's father, Vishal Agarwal, has already been detained by police from Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar. Now, the grandfather, Surendra Kumar Agarwal, was also detained by police. They are likely to be produced before the vacation court today. After Vishal Agarwal was sentenced to 15 days of judicial custody by the court yesterday after the end of his 3 days of police custody, police are likely to seek his police custody again amidst the latest charges against him.
