Pune: In the Alandi area, one minor accused deliberately ran over his car on one woman due to earlier animosity between them. In this incident, one female plaintiff, Najuka Thorat, received major injuries. Alandi police have registered a case in this regard against the minor accused.

According to the information, the minor accused was driving his private car in the Alandi area. At that time, Najuka Thorat was passing from there. Seeing her, the minor accused took his car in the reverse direction and increased the speed of the car with the intention of killing her. It is learned that the accused has done this due to an earlier dispute between his family and the injured plaintiff's family.

This entire incident was captured in the CCTV footage of the area. Astonishingly, the accused was seen sitting on the car after the accident, abusing the woman. In this case, Alandi police booked a minor accused on the complaint of the plaintiff. After the incident, the plaintiff was swiftly rushed to the nearby medical hospital for emergency medical treatment.

After this incident, various people are questioning the efficacy of traffic police in handling the overall increasing instances of hit-and-run cases in Pune. As per the recent data, in the last month, Pune has witnessed 70 smaller and larger accidents within the city limits. In these accidents, 31 people have lost their lives so far, whereas 54 people have been injured.

The police noted that increasing incidents of accidents in Pune city are attributed to drink-and-drive cases. Pune City Police Upper Commissioner Manoj Patil said, "People drive cars under the influence of alcohol, which led to increasing accidents. Significantly, Pune police also noted that the number of minor children driving vehicles has abruptly increased in recent days."

Pune's Guardian Minister, Ajit Pawar, has taken one meeting in this regard, and they have ordered directives to officials in this regard. After the Kalyaninagar Porsche car accident cases, Pune Police significantly lodged 920 cases of 'Drink and Drive' in the city. Furthermore, Pune police also identified 22 black spots in the city, considering the threat of increasing accident problems in the city.
