Rebels from Mahayuti and MVA file papers in Pimpri, Chinchwad and Bhosari seats

Pune: ON the last day of filing of nomination papers today, it has emerged that in all the three seats of Pimpri, Chinchwad and Bhosari, the Mahayuti and Maha Vikas Aghadi have been struck by rebellion. November 4 is the last day of withdrawal of nominations.

In the Chinchwad assembly seats where Mahayuti and BJP candidate Shankar Jagtap filed his nomination papers, two leaders of Ajit Pawar-led NCP -- which is part of the Mahayuti -- also filed their nomination papers.

Both Bhausaheb Bhoir and Nana Kate said they will not withdraw their nomination papers. ''If I withdraw my nomination papers, voters will lose respect for me,'' Bhoir said.

Similarly, Nana Kate said he has been campaigning for months now. ''I have already been in touch with voters of Chinchwad constituency. This is because I had contested the 2023 by-election from Chinchwad assembly seat. Now, when voters know me very well, I have no intention to lose the advantage. My rivals will have to do lot of spade work to get into the good books of the voters,'' he said.

In Pimpri reserved seat where Anna Bansode of NCP-Mahayuti filed his nomination papers, Mahayuti leader Chandrakanta Kamble who belongs to RPI (A) filed her nomination papers. Simiarly, from Gautam Chabukswar, a former MLA and a Shiv Sena (UBT)-MVA, also filed his nominations from Pimpri reserved seat. In Pimpri, Sulakshna Shilwant of Sharad Pawar-led NCP filed her papers. 

In Bhosari seat where BJP-Mahayuti leader Mahesh Landge filed his nomination paper, Ajit Gavhane of NCP (S-P) filed his papers. Ravi Landge, a Shiv Sena (UBT)-MVA leader, also filed his nomination paper.

Former corporator Seema Sawale, who had threatened to file her nomination from Pimpri reserved decided not to do so after being convinced by the party leadership.

Sachin Bhosale, president of Pimpri-Chinchwad Shiv Sena (UBT) who had threatened to contest from Pimpri reserved seat, he has not filed his nominations following directives from party leadership. Asked whether the Sena unit will back Chabukswar, Bhosale said they will take a decision after November 4, the last date of withdrawal of nominations.

Election officers said in Pimpri reserved seat 39 candidates filed their nomination papers till Tuesday, the last day. While in Chinchwad seat, 32 candidates filed their nomination papers. The figures of Bhosari assembly seat where not available till late evening.
