Knowledge Is The Key To Success: Vivek Velankar
Guidance on Opportunities in Science and Technology after 10th and 12th by YOJAK NGO: 800 Students Participated
Pune,July 20, 2024: “Invest in yourself as much as possible to feel proud of your future while being a student. The decisions you make today can have a significant impact on your future success and fulfilment. Education is the key to a brighter future”, says Vivek Velankar, an expert career counsellor.
YOJAK, which has made a mark in the NGO sector, recently organised a seminar on opportunities in science and technology after 10th and 12th. He was speaking as the key note speaker at a seminar held at Ga. Di. Madgulkar Natyagruha, Akurdi.
Ramesh Venugopalaswamy, the chief guest, guided the students of classes 10 and 12. Among the invitees were Shri Vijay Wavare, Anuja Saptashwa, Reshma Andhale. Renu Inamdar, founder and director of the NGO was also present.
The programme was attended by around 800 children in grades 10 to 12 and concerned teachers from community learning centres run in 12 slums of Pimpri Chinchwad and four villages of Khed Taluka by YOJAK NGO in collaboration with Bajaj Auto Ltd. CSR department.
Vivek Velankar said, "Keep learning as much as possible while pursuing a career in science. A student’s 10th grade year is a very important one. The syllabus taught in this grade builds up one’s career. Education is the only way to develop oneself. You must thus acquire as much knowledge as you can for holistic growth.”
“Inculcating good habits in students is like laying the foundation of a strong building. It not only enhances academic performance but also shapes your character. You will get success in all areas of life. If you want to choose a branch in a scientific way, then aptitude test or intelligence test is the best solution. Some career paths open directly after the 10th grade. Plan for a career. Competition has increased, but so has the choice. But study is only way to success," he stated.
Students with science background can pursue a career path in engineering, medicine, research and development, data analysis, and scientific writing, among other science disciplines.
Renu Inamdar said that for the last one and a half decades, YOJAK has been working to provide access to education and development in the remote villages of Pune district as well as in the slums of Pimpri Chinchwad. The doors of secondary and higher secondary education as well as science and technology sectors need to be opened for the students from vulnerable population.
More than 2500 students from class 1st to 12th are benefiting from the community learning centres being run in urban and rural areas by YOJAK in collaboration with the CSR Department of Bajaj Auto Ltd. among the beneficiaries are students from weaker sections and significant number of girls.
In the centers, various day-to-day activities are carried out to build a strong foundation for the higher education of the students as well as to develop a balanced personality. The STEM Lab initiative has been started in the last two years to make the students of the centers more interested in science and technology.
As the next phase of the STEM Lab initiative, a special mentoring session has been organised by Vivek Velankar.
