Pune: Maratha Activist Manoj Jarange on Tuesday declared that he would begin an indefinite fast on January 25, 2025, to protest for Maratha community getting reservations in jobs and education under the OBC category, Pune Mirror reported. 

Addressing the media at Antarwali Sarthi village in Jalna, Jarange called for mass gathering in Maharashtra's Jalna from January 25, 2025.

He urged members of the Maratha Community,  “No one should stay at home. Come to Antarwali Sarthi, and let us show our collective strength,” 

Manoj Jarange has been demanding the implementation of a draft notification that recognises Kunbis as 'sage soyare' (those related by birth or marriage) of Marathas ,enabling the latter to avail reservation benefits under the Other Backward Classes (OBC) category.
