Five Labourers Die As Tank Collapses In Bhosari Area
Pune: As many as five labourers were killed and six injured when a water tank at a labour camp of Sadgurunagar area of Bhosari collapsed suddenly on Thursday morning.
Those dead have been identified as Navin Jonna, Malla Mahakur, Sonu Kumar, Ravindra Kumar and Sudam Behra.
The injured have been identified as Santoshkumar Sahani, Shivjatan Nishad, Munna Ramesh Chaudhary, Mohammed Salim Mangru Shaikh, Jitendrakumar Mandal and Mohammed Harun Rashid.
The Pimpri-Chinchwad police the tank was constructed next to makeshift houses at a labour camp of a private construction company in Sadguru Nagar area of Bhosari.
Pimpri-Chinchwad Municipal Commissioner Shekhar Singh said the tank was constructed illegally, without taking permisison from the PCMC. ''A better part of Sadgurunagar area is under Red Zone where constructions are not permitted,'' he said.
The labour camp is for the workers on the site of NCC construction company. The firm identified as Shri Vinayak Industrial services has provided labourers for this project.This labour contractor had constructed the tank just three days ago.
Senior Inspector Vishwanath Chavan, in-charge of Bhosari police station the police have booked the proprietor of the labour contractor firm on the charges of culpable homicide among other charges.
After the incident 11 victims were rushed to nearby hospitals. Three were pronounced dead on arrival and two more succumbed to their injuries during treatment.
Deceased have been identified as Navin Jonna, Malla Mahakur, Sonu Kumar, Ravindra Kumar and Sudam Behra. The injured persons include Santoshkumar Sahani, Shivjatan Nishad, Munna Ramesh Chaudhary, Mohammed Salim Mangru Shaikh, Jitendrakumar Mandal and Mohammed Harun Rashid.
