Election Officer Enforces Section 144 in Balewadi Ahead of Maval Lok Sabha Vote Counting

Pune: The counting of votes for the Maval Lok Sabha constituency will begin at 8 a.m. on Tuesday at the Shiv Chhatrapati Sports Complex in Balewadi. In order to ensure that the voting process will be conducted in a peaceful and fearless atmosphere, the election officer of the district invoked Section 144 of the Criminal Procedure Act (Prohibition Orders).

The order said that prohibition orders will be in force from midnight on June 3 until the end of the counting of votes within 100 metres of the counting of votes. No use of mobiles, laptops, iPads, matchboxes, cordless phones, pagers, wireless sets, loudspeakers, other electronic equipment, or any kind of weapon is allowed in this area.

District Collector and Election Officer Dr. Suhas Diwase said that any kind of violation of the above orders will attract penal action under Section 188 of the Indian Penal Code.
