Election Commission to announce Maharashtra, Jharkhand poll today at 3.30 pm

Pune: THE long suspense over Maharashtra assembly polls will get over at 3.30 today. The Election Commission of India announced the dates for Maharashtra and Jharkhand assembly polls at 3.30 pm today that is on October 15, 2024.

Politicians, political activists, experts and even citizens are all eagerly awaiting the annoucement of the date of elections.

As per political leaders, the Election Commission might hold the elections in the second week of November. This is because of Diwali and other festivals during which time voters go to their native place.

The Election Commission is also likely to announce the ddates for Wayanad Basirhat bypolls. The Wayanad seat fell vacant after Congress MP Rahul Gandhi resigned from it. His sister Priyanka Gandhi is likely to contest from the seat.

NCP spokesperson Umesh Patil said Maharashtra legislature term ends on November 26. Maharashtra is ruled by BJP led Mahayuti which has launched a slew of welfare measures including Ladki Bahin Yojana to woo the voters. The Mahayuti did poor during Lok Sabha elections and is therefore under pressure.

The election will witness direct fight between Maha Vikas Aghadi and the ruling Mahayuti.

The NCP led by Sharad Pawar' which did fabulously well during Lok Sabha elections is on a roll. Several leaders from Mahayuti have made a beeline to the party.
