Dr Taware Will Be Interrogated In Jail In Hit-and-run Case
Pune: The main accused in the blood sample exchange case in the hit-and-run accident in Kalynai Nagar and the then Forensic Science Department Head Dr Ajay Taware will be interrogated again.
The Crime Branch has got the permission to interrogate Dr Taware inside the Yerwada Central Prison. Top officials confirmed the development.
A 900-page charge sheet was filed in the case a fortnight ago. Blood samples of the minor involved in the accident were changed at the Sassoon Hospital to protect him. The minor’s father builder Vishal Agarwal bribed Dr Taware through one of his builder friends, who knew Taware’s acquaintance, a retired officer from the PWD.
Later, Dr Shrihari Halnor changed the blood samples of the minor and his friends on the instructions of Dr Taware. This was done for financial gains. Dr Halnor got Rs 2.50 lakh, Sassoon Hospital peon got Rs 50,000. Accused Ashpak Makandar and Amar Gaikwad played a role in this. The minor’s mother gave her blood samples to replace with her son’s. This has been proved in the investigation. Dr Halnor and Dr Taware have been held equally responsible for the exchange of blood samples to gain financial benefit.
A supplementary charge sheet will be filed. The Crime Branch sought permission from the court to interrogate Dr Taware inside the jail to piece together details given by other accused and Dr Taware. The permission has been granted.
