Pune, 13th August 2024: Indian Society of Periodontology Study Group, Pune in association with the Department of Periodontology, Dr. D. Y. Patil Dental College and Hospital, Pimpri, Pune organizes “Perioconnect”, West Zone Perio UG Convention, 2024. This undergraduate convention based on the theme “Upgrade the Undergrads” enabled the students to understand and learn the various aspects of periodontology. The highlights of this event include special guest speakers from U.S.A and Vietnam, eminent speakers from Maharashtra, Gujrat, Daman, Goa, Karnataka & Vietnam, live interactions with the speakers at main event and pre-conference courses, myriads of preconference courses with hands-on to explore, and knowledge of basics of Perio to Implant. This two-day conference was a significant event in the field of periodontology, bringing together undergraduate students, esteemed faculty, and experts from across the region. There were 1400 students who had registered for the event & they were enriched with the interrelationship of various branches of dentistry like Endodontics, Prosthodontics and Orthodontics with Periodontics.

The program was graced by the presence of Dr. Georgios E Romanos, Professor, Department of Periodontics & Endodontics – Stony Brook University, USA was the Chief Guest of the program, Dr. (Mrs.) Smita Jadhav, Pro-Vice Chancellor of Dr. D. Y. Patil Vidyapeeth, Pune, was the Guest of Honor and Dr. Do Thi Thao, Vice Dean, Faculty of Odonto Stomatology, Can Thou University of Medicine & Pharmacy, Vietnam was the International Guest of Honor.

The conference also honored distinguished personalities such as Dr. D. Gopalakrishnan, President of Indian Society of Periodontology, and also the Dean of Dr. D. Y. Patil Dental College & Hospital and Secretary of the Conference; Dr. Ashish Jain, Secretary of the Indian Society of Periodontology; Dr. Abhay Kolte, Immediate Past President of Indian Society of Periodontology, Dr. H S Grover, President Elect of Indian Society of Periodontology and Dr. Nitin Dani, Past President of Indian Society of Periodontology.

The Organizing Committee delegated with the responsibility of the "WEST ZONE PERIO UG CONVENTION 2024" comprises of Dr. D. Gopalakrishnan as Organizing Chairman, Dr. Sharath Kumar Shetty as Organizing Secretary, Dr. Santosh Martande as Treasurer, and Dr. Anita Kulloli as Scientific Chairperson.
