'Green Conclave-2025' Organized by ISHRAE Pune Chapter held
International Convention Center Soon: Mohol

Pune: The 'Green Conclave-2025,' organized by the Indian Society of Heating, Refrigerating, and Air Conditioning Engineers (ISHRAE), was inaugurated in the presence of key dignitaries including Muralidhar Mohol (Minister of State for Civil Aviation), Dr. Chandrakant Pulakundwar (Divisional Commissioner), Ranjit Naiknavare (President of CREDAI), renowned architect Sandeep Shikre,Anoop Ballaney (National President of ISHRAE), Ashutosh Joshi (President, ISHRAE Pune Chapter), Dr. Poorva Keskar (Conference Convener), and Arvind Surange (Conference Chairperson). Union Minister Nitin Gadkari addressed the event through a Live video message, stated a press release.

This carbon-neutral event was held on January 18, 2025, from 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM at Suzlon One Earth, a green building in Magarpatta(Hadapsar, Pune). The inaugural session featured a keynote address by Dr.Karin Misenberger. The evening concluded with the presentation of various eco-friendly awards called SHUNYA Net Zero Accelerator awards,presented by former Union Minister Prakash Javadekar.

The theme for this year was, “Shunya - Our Dharma to Net Zero”, underscores commitment to sustainability and environmental harmony. GC25 brought together policymakers, industry leaders and innovators to explore solutions for a sustainable future across HVAC & R, refrigeration, and the built environment.Conclave focussed on Net Zero Energy, Water, and Waste Goals , Sustainable Cooling Technologies , low energy cooling Innovations in the Built Environment , SHUNYA Net Zero Accelerator Awards ,Sustainable Fashion Show.

The conference saw discussions on various topics by experts such as Karin Meisenberger (Architectural Designer from Vienna), Dipendra Prasad (Delhi), Shailendra Sharma, Shruti Narayan, Jayadhar Gupta, Ashish Rakheja,N.S.Chandrashekhar,Shekhar Ganti,Dr.Satish Kuamr,Jagdeep Singh,Nikhil Kulkarni,R.S.Kulkarni and Aditya Chunekar.

The central theme of the conclave, “Achieving Net Zero: Our Responsibility,” emphasized a commitment to sustainability and environmental balance. The event brought together policymakers, industry leaders, and innovative professionals, focusing on sustainable solutions in HVACR, refrigeration, and construction.

International Convention Center Soon: Mohol

"An international convention center will soon be established in Pune," assured MP Mohol while speaking at the inauguration of the council. He said, "Once the convention center is established, I hope people from Delhi and Mumbai will visit Pune. Pune faces several severe environmental issues. To address these, all Pune residents, including me, must support the work of active NGOs and advance this mission of sustainable development."

Ranjit Naiknavare, President of CREDAI Pune Metro, stated, "Sixty percent of the world's population lives in urban areas, occupying just 2% of the land, which poses a significant challenge to achieving sustainable development." He added, "The standard of living in Pune is yet to reach desirable levels. Achieving development in the construction sector while adhering to sustainable practices, environmental norms, and green building standards is a major challenge for developers. Our construction industry is committed to supporting the goals of net zero emissions and environmental sustainability."

Architect Sandeep Shikhare emphasized, "Construction sector development must consider local climatic and natural conditions. It is essential to prioritize eco-friendly construction materials and focus on energy and water conservation. Efforts must be directed toward reducing carbon emissions through various policies while aiming for net-zero carbon emissions. Currently, we lack precise carbon emission data."

The event was hosted by Vimal Chavda, while Dr. Purva Keskar explained the vision behind the council's organization. Ashutosh Joshi gave the introductory remarks, and Arvind Surange also addressed the gathering.

Special Roundtable on Decarbonization Charter:

A roundtable discussion with CEOs and builders from the construction industry was held at 11:30 AM to deliberate on the Decarbonization Charter. Consensus was sought on its key points. Pankaj Dharkar chaired the session, while Dr. Sunita Purushottam moderated.

Notable attendees included Chetan Thakur (President-Elect, ISHRAE), Virendra Borade (Past President, ISHRAE Pune Chapter), Sujal Sheth (Programme Chair and Coordinator, CEO Roundtable Conference).
