Pune: In the Kalyaninagar high-profile car accident case, the judge of the Juvenile Justice Board (JJB) extended the custody of the minor accused until June 25. In this case, a fresh hearing will now take place on June 25. Meanwhile, as the regular judge of this hearing was not present, the other judge heard the plea yesterday and ordered the extension of the accused's custody.

Yesterday, the minor accused was presented in court as his custody in the correction centre was ending. At that time, the defence party requested his acquittal from custody, whereas the police objected to the defence party's argument and requested further perpetuation of his custody until June 25.

The police argued that the investigation in the accident case is ongoing, and if the accused was released now, he could further impact the investigation with the help of his relatives. Police argued that as his counselling is going on in the juvenile correctional centre, the abrupt release of the accused could also impact his counselling.

"The entire family of the minor accused is in jail. Therefore, there is no one at home to take care of him. It can also take a toll on the accused's mental health," police argued in court. The police further stated that, as there is great anger against the accused in society, the release of him without proper security arrangements can also cause harm to him.

While hearing both sides of the arguments, the judge of the JJB sentenced the accused to custody until June 25. The judge noted, "As I am not the regular judge of this case, the further hearing on this case will take place on June 25, and till then, the proceeding in this case is adjourned.

Meanwhile, the police custody of the accused's mother and father, Shivani and Vishal Agarwal, is ending on June 14. They will be presented in court on June 14.
