jobs and lifting of quota cap

Pune: THE Congress party, which is struggling to keep its flock together but has upped the ante against the Modi Sarkar at the time of elections, today came out with its manifesto which makes one promise too many.

The manifesto is 46 page document. And it is title "Nyay Patra.''

One of the biggest promises -- which Rahul Gandhi has been making repeatedly during his padyatra across the country-- is lifting the cap of 50 per cent on quota. In Maharashtra, the Maratha community has been agitating demanding reservaton but the Centre has not been able to provide them reservation as it would mean exceeding the quota of 50 per cent imposed by the Supreme Court.

The Congress manifesto today promised increasing the cap of 50 per cent but it did not specify the upper limit of the cap.

The Congress has promised reservation in private education institutions.

The Congress has promised to fill up 30 lakhs vacancies in central government jobs. 

The Congress has promised to create more jobs. It has promised to to reserve 50 per cent of central government jobs for women

The Congress has promised a legal guarantee for minimum support price for farmers crops. It has promised cashless insurance cover up to Rs 25 lakhs for universal healthcare.

The party has promised compulsory and free ducation from Class 1 to Class 12 in public schools.

The Congress has promised to implement the 10% quota in jobs and education for the Economically Weaker Section (EWS) for all castes and communities.

The Congress has promised to establish a Diversity Commission which is aimed at monitoring and promoting diversity in public and private employment and education.

The Congress promised enactment of a Right to Apprenticeship Act to provide a one year apprenticeship with a private or a public sector company to every diploma holder or college graduate under the age of 25 with a stipend of Rs one lakh a year. 

The Congress said it will set up fast-track courts to adjudicate cases related to paper leaks.
