Cong Pays Tribute To Chhatrapati Shahu Maharaj, Flays Govt

Pune: The foundation of social equality was laid by Rajarshi Shahu Maharaj, it was the foundation of democracy and equality. State or Central Government, not celebrating the 150th birth anniversary of ‘Shri Chhatrapati Shahu Maharaj’ in a special manner is an indication of the difference with Shahu Maharaj's views on equality, said Congress state spokesperson Mr Gopaldada Tiwari, while paying tributes to the great social reformer.
The foundation of social equality created by Chhatrapati Shahu Maharaj was the foundation of democracy, socialism and equality. Determining the extent of social equality by taking a caste-wise census in the country as a constitutional duty will be a tribute to Shahu Maharaj, said MrGopaldada Tiwari during the felicitation organized on the occasion of "Chhatrapati Shahu Maharaj Jayanti".
On this occasion, on behalf of Jan Sangharsh Samiti Pune, 150 kg of Bundi ladoos were distributed. The 150th birth anniversary of Chhatrapati Rajarshi Shahu Maharaj was celebrated with enthusiasm at Deccan Gymkhana Gudluck Chowk (Kalakar Katta) Fergusson College Road organized by “Jan Sangharsh Samiti” Pune. Gopaldada Tiwari further said, that it was necessary for the State or Central Government to specially celebrate the 150th birth anniversary of Shri Ch Shahu Maharaj, but by not doing so, he regretted that the government was keeping away from Shahu Maharaj's ideals of equality.
At this time, Colonel Sangram Singh Yadav and Prof. Gangadhar Banbare started the Jayanti celebrations by worshiping the statue of Rajarshi Shahu Maharaj. Hon. B.G.Kolse Patil, Hon.Ulhasdada Pawar, Ashokji Dhiware, Mohanji Joshi, Sandipji Barve, Ravindra G Ransingh, Adv.Sandipji Tamhankar, MD Nimbalkar expressed their greetings..

Mr Gopaldada Tiwari also demanded that Shahu Maharaj Gaurav Granth should be republished by Maharashtra government and a statue of Chhatrapati Shahu Maharaj should be erected in Deccan area of Pune.
