Pimpri: Citizens in Pimpri-Chinchwad have urged Prime Minister Narendra Modi to inaugurate the Sangvi - Bopodi bridge on 27th September.

In a letter to the Prime Minister, Dinkar Bile,Youth President,Sangvi Youth Manch said, "We have just seen news about you being in Pune to inaugurate the underground section of Metro from Shivajinagar to Swargate on 27th September.

The beautiful Sangvi to Bopodi bridge built jointly by Pimpri Chinchwad Municipal corporation and Pune Municipal corporation at a cost of about 21 Crores is almost ready and is to be fully operational by 20th of September 24.

The letter said," This vital bridge connects both Corporations and is said to be a gamechanger for citizens of both Corporations as it will save time, fuel and help avoid traffic congestion to a great extent. 

The uniqueness and importance of this bridge is that it - a) provides breathtaking views of the majestic world environmental heritage declared 300 acres and 150 years old Government Botanical garden, Aundh through which the bridge approach road passes through."

The letter said," The proximity of another 800 acres of Pune University and Governor's residence and the soothing view of the cleanest of 4 rivers that run through the twin cities - River Mula which is home / shelter to huge and different breeds of fishes, tortoises, snakes birds of various kinds etc.

A little known but historical fact that Mahatma Gandhiji had proposed this very 1100 acres campus of Pune University, Botanical garden and Governor's residence as site for Independent India's Parliament, administrative offices and Rashtrapati Bhavan but Nehruji insisted on Delhi and hence the present capital."

Bile said, "We the citizens of Pune and Pimpri Chinchwad request you to spare just an hour from your Pune schedule and inaugurate the bridge which will be a great event in the history of both cities being interlinked vide this very significant bridge ad'mist a very historical site.Hoping you will not disappoint us, we remain most hopeful of your positive response knowing the nature of your character for love for tradition and history."
