Pune, September 8, 2024: A few days ago, the former corporator of the Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) was shot dead by few assailants in Pune. After that, another shocking incident has come to light from Bhosari today, where the sitting MLA of the Bhosari assembly constituency received a death threat on a phone call.
As per the information, a person identified as Udaykumar Rai has called a police control room and informed that he got a contract for Mahesh Landge's killing. Accordingly, Bhosari police arrested the accused from Moshi within a few hours of the investigation. In this case, a complaint has been registered against the accused at Bhosari MIDC police station.
Police informed that Udayakumar Rai originally hails from Chhattisgarh state and has been living in Bhosari for the past five years. He has been detained by Bhosari MIDC police. The exact reason behind the threat is yet to be understood, and police are investigating further into the case.
Notably, this is not the first incident where Landge was threatened. Earlier in April last year, Landge received a message demanding an extortion of Rs 30 lakh. On the helpline number issued by Landge for citizens' grievance redressal, an unknown accused texted Landge demanding extortion. He also issued a death threat to Landge at that time.
The latest incident has sparked widespread fear in Pune city, as a few days ago, a former NCP corporator was shot and stabbed to death in Pune. Police have detained many people in connection with Vanraj Andekar's murder, and they are being thoroughly interrogated. In Nana Peth area of Pune, last Sunday night Vanraj Andekar was shot dead by the assailants and stabbed with a machete.
