Aum Gujarati: Maharashtra's Skating Champion Shines at World Skate Games

Pune: 14-year-old Aum Gujarati, a trailblazing athlete from Maharashtra, has once again made the nation proud by representing India at the prestigious World Skate Games held on September 24. Aum, the only female skater from India selected for this elite competition, has earned a remarkable position among the top 10 skaters in the world, ranking 9th, after outperforming competitors from Australia, Japan, Chile, and other countries.

This marks a key moment in her career, having already secured seven national medals and establishing herself in Indian sports. Aum’s journey stands out not just for her talent but also because she is the only girl from Maharashtra to receive such national recognition in skating.

With immense pride, Aum reflects on her accomplishment, stating, "I am happy and proud to make India reach the Top 10. I believe I can perform even better and will focus on improving my mental strength to achieve a higher ranking next year."

Her mother, equally proud, highlights the dedication and discipline Aum demonstrates daily. "Any athlete who wears the India flag on their shoulder is National Pride. They train with the discipline of the military while balancing their studies. They deserve not only respect but also support from society. India's ecosystem needs to become more conducive to nurturing talent in sports."

Aum’s journey highlights the potential of Indian athletes, and her achievements inspire the next generation of skaters and athletes across the country. With the right support, Aum aims to rise further in the global rankings, bringing more success to India in the years ahead.
