Ajit Pawar-led NCP embarks on signature campaign to connect with the voters

Pune: Ahead of the elections, the Ajit Pawar led NCP is going full hog. It seems to be leaving no stone unturned to connect with the masses. This is an effort to win maximum seats, thereby making Ajit Pawar, their captain realise his dream of becoming the chief minister.

On Wednesday, the Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) State Youth Wing president Suraj Chavan organised ''Signature Campaign'' at various locations in Pimpri assembly constituency.

At various locations of the Pimpri assembly constituency, a large white canvas was placed where people signed in support of the welfare schemes.

Earlier, on September 5, the Maharashtra Women Commission Chairperson and President of NCP State Women Wing also organized this campaign in Pune, the NCP said.

In Pimpri, the signature campaign started from Dr. B.R. Ambedkar Chowk where scores of citizens signed the canvas which read – ‘I support the welfare schemes and want them to continue for next 5 years.’

Deputy CM Ajit Pawar who is also the finance minister of the state, introduced the ambitious Majhi Ladki Bahin Scheme in this year’s budget which provides financial assistance of Rs 1500 to women. The scheme has received overwhelming support from women; over 1.6 crore beneficiaries have already received the instalment of the scheme, the NCP stated in a press release.

Starting the campaign in Pimpri Assembly constituency, NCP Youth wing president Suraj Chavan said, “The signature campaign will be conducted in all the assembly constituencies of the state, party workers and all frontal organizations are actively preparing for the upcoming assembly elections. Under the leadership of Deputy CM Ajit Pawar, the party is trying to connect with the voters through these unique campaign ideas.''

Other frontal organizations including students wing, cultural wing, social justice wing and minorities wing of the party have also been tasked with organizing this campaign at various assembly constituencies in the state.

The government has introduced five flagship schemes in the state – the Majhi Ladki Bahin Scheme, Annapurna Yojana under which 52 lakhs households are getting free cylinders, Yuva Karya Prashikshan Scheme under which stipend up to Rs.10 thousand and industrial training to educated unemployed youth will be provided, Mukhyamantri Baliraja Vij Savkat Yojana under which free electricity is provided to 44 lakh farmers and Mulina Mofat Shikshan Yojana for free education to girls, the NCP press release added.
