Pune: On the sidelines of the much-lauded 'CM Ladli Behna' scheme of the Madhya Pradesh government, the Maharashtra government aims to implement a similar scheme in Maharashtra, keeping an eye on the upcoming state legislative assembly elections. The Deputy Chief Minister and the Finance Minister of the state, Ajit Pawar, announced the 'CM Majhi Ladki Bahin' on the floor of the house while presenting the budget of the state for this year.

Under this scheme, all the eligible women from the age group of 21 to 60 will receive 1500 rupees per month. Similarly, to increase the use of sustainable consumption of fuel and decrease the health problems among women, the Deputy CM also announced to give three gas cylinders free to eligible families.

Maharashtra is facing a general election in the upcoming September–October month. Keeping the elections in mind, the state government announced the scheme to attract female voters in the upcoming elections. This scheme was originally the brainchild of the then Chief Minister of the Madhya Pradesh Government, Shivrajsingh Chauhan. This scheme was said to reap huge electoral success for the BJP in the state.

Therefore, the Maharashtra state government is planning to introduce a similar scheme in the state. Along with that, the state government also announced schemes such as the CM Annapurna Yojana and the Pink Rickshaw Yojana for females.

"The woman is the backbone of the family. She is the central part of society. She single-handedly manages the family and her work profession. Therefore, to open the doors of opportunities to such able women and to support them is the duty of this government, and therefore, we have decided to implement the scheme of 'CM Majhi Ladki Bahin' in the state," said Ajit Pawar while announcing the scheme. He said that for this scheme, the state government has announced a package of Rs 46 thousand crore, and from July onwards, the state government will start the implementation of the scheme.
