Pune: Yesterday, a devastating accident occurred on the Mumbai-Pune highway, specifically in the Khalapur area, resulting in the loss of one life and injuries to nine others.

The deceased driver, identified as 48-year-old Sandeep Dilip Barve from Dombivli, tragically lost his life at the scene of the accident. His body was transported to Lokmanya Hospital at the Primary Health Centre in Khalapur for further proceedings.

Among the injured, a woman named Suman Barve, aged 68, sustained serious injuries. Additionally, nine-year-old Ashwajit Barve, five-year-old Pranav Barve, three-year-old Adesh Barve, nineteen-year-old Aniket Barve, eighteen-year-old Priya Barve, seventeen-year-old Gaurav Barve, and six-month-old Kiara Barve sustained minor injuries. They were promptly rushed to MGM Hospital Kamothe in a private vehicle for immediate medical attention.

Reports indicate that the driver lost control of the vehicle, causing it to crash through the left-side railing and plummet down the road, resulting in the fatal accident of the car. Despite the accident, traffic flow was restored as the vehicle was cleared from the road.

Local authorities, including the police, the Devdut team, IRB staff, and other motorists, were present at the scene to assist. The Khalapur Police Station officers and personnel are currently undertaking further investigation related to the incident.
