Pune: Amidst the political election buzz, the issue of unauthorised hoardings in the state has become much more important. A few days ago, one of the hoardings collapsed in Ghatkopar, resulting in approximately 17 to 18 people being killed and around 70 to 80 people being injured. Meanwhile, when that issue was fresh, a similar kind of incident took place in Moshi.

On Thursday, May 16, an unauthorised hoarding collapsed at Jai Ganesh Empire Chowk in Spine Road, Moshi. Surprisingly, a police investigation revealed that the structure stability certificate for the collapsed hoarding had expired. In this regard, Gyanchand Hari Bhat (55), a resident of Station Road, Pimpri, has filed a complaint at MIDC Bhosari Police Station.

Two people identified as Anand Ramanlal Gandhi and Hemant Kumar Shinde were primarily held responsible for this incident, and police have registered a complaint against both accused.

According to the information, on Thursday, a 20-by-40-foot hoarding collapsed in the Spine Road area due to heavy rain and strong wind. Though no one was injured in this accident, four two-wheelers and one Tempo have been extensively damaged.

Police informed that the accused, Anand Gandhi, a hoarding licensee and a structure designer for Anand Advertising, did not renew the reinforcement certificate for hoarding even after the expiration of the period. The police held his action as reckless and endangered to human life and personal safety. Accordingly, police constable Santosh Hake registered a complaint against both accused.

Meanwhile, after this incident, Municipal Commissioner Shekhar Singh called a meeting regarding the issue of all unauthorised hoardings in the city on Friday. After the accident at Moshi, Commissioner Shekhar Singh immediately took notice of the incident and instructed Associate Commissioner Chandrakant Indalkar and Deputy Commissioner Sandeep Khot to inspect the incident site.
