Heavy Rains, Thunderstorms Predicted Across Maharashtra
Pune: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has predicted heavy rainfall across Maharashtra during this week due to cyclonic weather conditions in the Bay of Bengal. A low pressure area has been formed over the area. Its intensity is likely to increase and it will move further in the westerly direction, resulting in rainfall across Maharashtra from September 23 to 28.
Meanwhile, the monsoon on Monday (September 23) started its retreat from Rajasthan. Conditions have become conducive in Kutch and Rajasthan for its retreat due to the flowing of winds and reduced humidity.
Therefore, heavy rainfall, accompanied by thunderstorms, is likely to occur in the State. Its intensity could be higher in Vidarbha and Marathwada. Kharif crop harvesting is underway in the State. This may cause losses to crops. Damages to crops may increase due to thunderstorms.
A yellow alert has been issued in the State on Monday (September 23). Sindhudurg, Raigad, Pune, Solapur, Beed, Ahmednagar, Nanded, Hingoli, Parbhani, Chandrapur and Gadchiroli may receive heavy rainfall.
