Pune: After last week's Hindenburg revelations against Securities and Exchange Board of India (SEBI) Chairperson Madhabi Puri Buch, the Union Finance Ministry has finally woken up.

On Monday, Union Economic Affairs Secretary Ajay Seth said," There is nothing further to add ....both the regulator and the concerned person have given their statements.

“SEBI has given a statement. The concerned person has given a statement. I have nothing further to add,” Seth told reporters outside North Block in New Delhi today.

Seth was evasive as to whether SEBI chairperson will resign. “Both of them, the concerned person as well as the regulator, have made the statements and therefore we don't want to add anything further," he reiterated.

After the US-based short-seller Hindenburg Research. On Saturday, Hindenburg had made allegations against SEBI Chairperson Madhabi Puri Buch.

Hindenburg Research, in a post on X, had alleged that Buch and her husband had stakes in obscure offshore funds used in the Adani money siphoning scandal.

Sebi however on Sunday defended Buch. SEBI said the regulator has adequate internal mechanisms to address issues related to conflict of interest, which include disclosure framework and provision for recusal.
