Give One Hour For Book Reading; Governor’s Advice To Students!
The first convocation of COEP Tech University takes place.
Pune, August 28 : “You may have long working hours on your laptop but close it for a while and give 1 hour every day for a printed book reading for refreshing yourself and for gaining new knowledge”, advised C P Radhakrishnan, Governor of Maharashtra during his address to the students of COEP Tech University during the first convocation ceremony of COEP Tech University today. Dr Pramod Chaudhari, Chairman of the Board of Governance, Prof Sunil Bhirud, Vice Chancellor, Dr. D. N. Sonawane, Registrar and Yashodhara Haribhakta, Director of Board of Examinations of COEP Technological University were present on the dais stated a press release.
During this address, C P Radhakrishnan said, “It is a great day for the students who got the Degree Certificate today because their name has been recorded in the history for being the ones to get it in the first convocation of the University but now it is the time for the students to create a new history in the future. The discipline and enthusiasm of the students here has given me confidence that they will shine soon. I particularly liked the fact a lady staff member who heads the board of examination was leading the convocation procession. This indicates the inclusiveness and the involvement of women power in the functioning of the University.”
While narrating the Vikasit Bharat in his dreams the Governor said, “Once a reporter asked me about my concept of development then I told him that today a large number of Indians are standing in queue outside the American consulate for getting the US Visa. I want to create an India where people from the USA will come to the Indian consulate to get an Indian Visa. The day has come now that students from all over the world will come to India for higher education due to the high standard of education offered here.”
“A Tribal University is being set up in the state of Maharashtra and the very purpose is not to keep Tribals as Tribals but to train them to compete in the world. We need to give modern education to the tribals living in isolation to make them competent. Economic development is necessary, focus should be on the microeconomy because it can create wealth. Everyone talks theoretically about poverty eradication but our PM Narendra Modi concentrates more on the implementation of the schemes for poverty eradication. The PM is confident of Vikasit Bharat by 2047 because he has full faith in the capabilities of the youth of this nation”, he added.
In his speech Dr Pramod Chaudhari said, “COEP has collaborated with KPMG to shape up COEP’s positioning as a world-class institute. COEP gets the top preference even among the students from other states when they think of engineering in Pune. All those who are passing out today must keep the legacy and values of COEP in mind in their future journey.”
