Gas Tanks Explode In Early Morning Gas Theft On Chakan-Shikrapur Road; Vehicles And Some Houses Destroyed

Pune: Today, around three to four tanks exploded and caught fire at around 5 a.m. on the Chakan-Shikrapur Highway while stealing gas from a gas container in domestic and commercial tanks. In this horrifying accident, nearby parked vehicles, along with the dhaba, were gutted into fire. Fortunately, there was no fatality reported in the accident.
The said incident took place at Shell Pimpalgaon on Chakan Shikrapur Road around 5 a.m. today. After getting information about it, two fire engines immediately rushed to the spot and brought the fire under control. Meanwhile, the perpetrators behind the act fled from the scene, and police have started an investigation to apprehend them.
Due to the early morning timing, there were not many people present at the scene, and fortunately, no fatalities occurred. However, the explosion ignited a fire that engulfed nearby parked vehicles and a dhaba. The blast also caused damage to several nearby houses. The explosion was so intense that tremors were felt up to one kilometre away from the site.
When the container carrying gas from the tanker caught fire, it triggered a massive blast, causing 3 to 4 nearby containers and the walls of nearby houses to collapse, resulting in extensive damage. The police are currently investigating the incident.
