Garware College's "Bus No. 1532" Wins Top Prize At 59th Purushottam Karandak Theatre Competition

Pune, September 23, 2024:The 59th Purushottam Karandak Intercollegiate Theatre Competition, organised by the Maharashtra Kalopasak Institute, concluded with Garware College of Commerce's "Bus No. 1532" clinching the top title. The competition, held at Bharat Natya Mandir in Sadashiv Peth over the weekend, saw a vibrant display of theatrical talent from various colleges.

Maharashtra Education Society's Institute of Management and Career Courses (IMCC) received the prestigious Jairam Hardikar Trophy for Best Experimental One-Act Play for their performance of "Sakha." Vidya Pratishthan College of Arts, Commerce, and Science, Baramati, secured second place with their play "Pati," earning the Hari Vinayak Karandak award. New Arts and Science College, Ahmednagar, was awarded third place for their production "Dekhawa," receiving the Sanjiv Karandak prize.

The finals of the competition were held in three sessions on Saturday (21st) and Sunday (22nd) at Bharat Natya Mandir in Sadashiv Peth. Nine college teams selected from the preliminary round performed in the final round. After the competition was over, the results were announced late at night.

Purushottam Berde, Shubhangi Gokhale, and Girish Pardeshi acted as judges for this competition.

The prize distribution ceremony of the final round of the competition will be held on Saturday (28th) at 5 pm at Bharat Natya Mandir, and the prize distribution will be done by senior dramatist C.P. Deshpande.
