G H Raisoni College Organised Mental Health Awareness Week 2024
Fostering Mental Well-Being Across Campus
Pune: In a proactive step towards promoting mental well-being, G H Raisoni College of Engineering and Management, Pune, in collaboration with the Peer Counsellors Club, organised a series of activities during Mental Health Awareness Week 2024. The week-long event, held from October 1 to 11 October, 2024, With the theme “Prioritising Mental Health at Workplaces,” the initiative aimed to spread awareness about mental health and create a supportive environment within the college.l
The event featured prominent speakers, including Dr. Juhi Deshmukh, Psychologist and Assistant Professor at Savitribai Phule Pune University, and Dr. R. D. Kharadkar, Campus Director of GHRCEM Pune. Both speakers emphasized the crucial role mental health plays in both academic and workplace settings.
Dr. Juhi Deshmukh highlighted the significance of mental well-being, stating, “Mental health is not only essential in professional environments but is the foundation of personal success. Our ability to understand and address these concerns helps create an inclusive and resilient community.”
Dr. R. D. Kharadkar, Campus Director, said that we are stressing the importance of educational institutions in fostering mental wellness. At G H Raisoni College, we are dedicated to building a campus culture that values mental health. "Mental health is an integral part of overall well-being, and initiatives like this ensure that our campus remains a space where students and faculty feel supported. We are proud of the efforts of our Peer Counsellors Club and the dedication shown by all participants."
The Mental Health Awareness Week was thoughtfully curated by Surabhi Pranav, Counseling Psychologist at GH Raisoni College, and included a diverse range of events to engage the student body and staff.
The event concluded on October 11, with a final celebration that featured insightful talks and interactive activities aimed at building a stronger support network for both students and faculty. The presence of Dr. Vandana Dureja, Dean of F.Y. B.Tech, was highly appreciated throughout the week, along with the efforts of student coordinators Ayan Shaikh and Tehseen Shaikh, who were instrumental in engaging their peers, stated a press release.
