First Train for Pune IT City Metro Arrives as Hinjewadi-Shivajinagar Line Advances

Pune: The construction of the metro line between Hinjewadi and Shivajinagar, known as the Puneri Metro, is progressing rapidly. On Saturday, the first train for the 'Pune IT City Metro' arrived in Pune. Built by Alstom at Sricity in Andhra Pradesh, this fully indigenous train is designated for Metro Line 2. The train is scheduled to reach the depot at Maan in Hinjewadi today, Sunday, with preliminary tests to be conducted over the next few months.

The construction of the metro line by 'Pune IT City' is advancing swiftly. For the 23.3-kilometre route, 22 train sets will serve passengers, each with a capacity of 1,000 passengers and capable of running at a speed of 85 km per hour. Following the arrival of the first train, additional trains will be delivered to the Maan depot in phases over the coming months.

All trains on the Hinjawadi to Shivajinagar route will be equipped with the latest technology, utilising the 'Third Rail System'. Alok Kapoor, Chief Executive Officer of Pune IT City Metro, expressed increased enthusiasm with the arrival of the first train and affirmed their commitment to providing reliable services to the people of Pune.

"The Puneri Metro trains are designed to offer a pleasant travel experience to Pune residents. The train features an eye-catching colour scheme, an attractive design, ergonomic seats for enhanced passenger comfort, and an advanced system that continuously provides accurate travel information," stated Neha Pandit, Director of Pune IT City Metro.
