Excellence Centre Approved At The Government College Of Engineering And Research, Awasari Khurd
Pune: State Cooperation Minister Dilip Walse Patil has announced that the State Government has approved an excellence centre to be set up at the Government College of Engineering and Research, Awasari Khurd (GCOEARA).
He said, “It will help students develop technical skills. Rs 5.40 crore has been sanctioned for the centre in the State Budget. The excellence centre will prove to be an important step towards high technology and research for students from rural areas.”
Till now, government engineering colleges have been set up at the divisional and district levels. The college at Awasari Khurd is the first such college to be built within a gram panchayat jurisdiction on 50 acres land. It was started in 2009. Over 500 boys and girls from the State and outside have studied here, out of which 95 pc students have been employed or set up their enterprise. Many have also cleared the civic services exams and are working on high posts.
All sorts of tools, a well-equipped laboratory and expert teachers are available. The ultra-modern Kavayitri Shanta Shelke Auditorium has been built on the premises by spending Rs 15 crore. The said excellence centre has been approved by the Centre due to special efforts of State Cooperation Minister Dilip Walse Patil, DTE Director Dr Vinod Mohitkar and Technical Divisional Office, Pune’s Dr DV Jadhav.
Adding to the glory of Ambegaon taluka
Dilip Walse Patil said, “Establishment of the excellence centre at the Government College of Engineering and Research, Awasari Khurd will add to the reputation of Ambegaon taluka. The students studying here will get international-level education due to the high technology and research available here. It will prove to be an ideal model in the higher education and research sector in the country.”
At a glance
The excellence centre will have three main laboratories:
Electric vehicles: Research will be carried out on manufacturing and development of electric vehicles. Students will get opportunities to solve traffic issues by developing new concepts and technology
Additive manufacturing: New methods in manufacturing will be studied with the help of technology in this laboratory. Innovation will be introduced in the manufacturing process by using 3D Printing and other advanced technology
Engineering simulation: Various issues in the technology sector will be analysed and solved using computer simulation. Students will be equipped to tackle real-time issues
