Daylight Heist: Five Robbers Steal 300 Grams of Gold from Mahammadwadi Jewellery Shop

Pune: In a brazen daylight theft, an incident involving robbing a jewellery shop took place in Wadkar Mala, Mahammadwadi, on Saturday. In this case, a syndicate of five people robbed the shop of 300 grammes of gold jewellery worth approximately Rs 21 lakh. This incident took place at the BGS jewellery shop in Wadkar Mala in the Mahammadwadi area on Saturday, May 18.

The entire theft incident was captured by the shop's CCTV cameras. The footage reveals five individuals robbing the shop at gunpoint and brandishing iron rods.

In this regard, the shop owner, Shafi Shaikh (55), a resident of Hadapsar, has filed a complaint at Wanawadi police station. Accordingly, Wanawadi police registered a complaint against all the individuals. As per the primary investigation, police said that all the accused are in a range of 20 to 25 age groups.

According to R. Raja, the Deputy Commissioner of 'Circle 5' of the city police, five unknown robbers intruded the BGS jewellery shop on Saturday at around 12 p.m. with guns and iron rods in their hands. The accused took out the guns and threatened to open gunfire. After that, the accused started taking gold ornaments from the shop.

However, when the nearby shop owner shouted thief thief, the accused hurriedly departed from the scene. Meanwhile, the perpetrators successfully made off with 300 gram of jewellery valued at Rs 21 lakh. Following the theft, the accused went towards Syed Nagar on their bikes.

After getting information about the incident, the senior police commissioner and Wanawadi Police rushed to the spot. Immediately, R. Raja, the Deputy Commissioner of 'Circle 5', dispatched teams of senior officials across various parts of the city to track down the thieves.

After it was revealed that the thieves had escaped on a two-wheeler, the police cordoned off the areas of Hadapsar, Wanawadi, and Kondhwa and started checking the suspected vehicles. A parallel investigation is being conducted by the crime branch along with the Wanawadi police.

R. Raja, the Deputy Commissioner of 'Circle 5' of the city police, said that after receiving information about the incident of robbery, investigation teams have been immediately dispatched to track the robbers. The city is being blocked and checked at various places.
