Pune: For the past few days, the issue of pollution in the traditionally and culturally significant Indrayani river has come to the fore, with many devotees and residents complaining about the deteriorating health of the river system. Yesterday, when the Chief Minister of the state, Eknath Shinde, came for the Palkhi Prasthan of Sant Dnyaneshwar Maharaj in Alandi, he assured the fast-track work on the clean-up of the polluted Indrayani river at that time.

CM Shinde said, "I have promised to clean the Indrayani River. In this regard, I have instructed the Urban Development Department regarding it, and the department has made 800 crore rupees available for this project." Shinde assured that soon the actual work on the Indrayani River rejuvenation will start.

In the last month, gloomy pictures of the polluted Indrayani River went viral on social media. The river water in those pictures appeared white due to pollution from industrial wastewater. Because of this, the citizens started questioning the administration regarding the health problems of devotees and residents.

Taking note of it, the Urban Development Department granted 800 crore rupees for this river cleaning project. This is the second such project in the city after the Mula-Mutha river cleaning project.

Meanwhile, CM Shinde expressed his gratitude that he got the opportunity to come for the Palkhi Prasthan Sohala of Sant Dnyaneshwar Maharaj. At that time, he prayed for the welfare of farmers and the citizens of the state.
