Pune: A potentially tragic accident was narrowly avoided in Alandi in Pune diatrict when a school bus carrying more than 50 students veered out of control and broke through the bank of the Indrayani River. The incident occurred around 4 p.m. on the Alandi-Markal road as the bus approached the Indrayani Bridge.
According to police sources, the bus driver lost control, causing the vehicle to crash into the riverbank. A significant portion of the bus broke through the bank, tilting dangerously towards the river. Thankfully, the bus did not plunge into the water, preventing what could have been a major disaster.
Local residents quickly responded to the accident, rushing to the scene to assist the trapped students. Residents effectively managed to rescue all the students by breaking the backside of the bus window and pulling them to safety. Immediate response from the residents averts major tragedies, ensuring that no lives were lost in the incident.
Witnesses describe the tense moments as the bus teetered on the edge of the river. Authorities have praised the local citizens for their prompt and heroic response.
