"IKSHANA" – Bharatanatyam Performance Addressing Environmental Issue
Pune : HCL Concerts and Poornam Foundation have organized "IKSHANA" – a unique Bharatanatyam performance in pune on September 20, 2024 Friday. The program will be held at Shreeram Lagoo Rang-Avakash Hirabaug Chowk, Pune. The time of the event is 6.30 PM, stated a press release.
'Ikshana,' meaning "perspective," offers a unique and thought-provoking exploration of environmental degradation through the classical dance form of Bharatanatyam. Directed and choreographed by acclaimed Bharatanatyam artist Tanya Saxena, the performance presents the climate crisis from the viewpoints of unexpected narrators—such as a plastic bottle—offering audiences a fresh perspective on the global environmental emergency. The narrative is inspired by the Pancha-bhootas, or the five classical elements, and reflects on the devastating effects of deforestation, industrialization, consumerism, and fossil fuel consumption.
