Pune: In a scathing attack on the system that exists, the Bombay High Court today (August 22, 2024) expressed concerns about safety of children in school.

The HC said if schools are not safe, then what is the point of holding discussions on the right to education.

“If even four-year-old girls are not safe in schools, then it shows the situation is extremely alarming,” the bench said.

The HC Bench was hearing matters related to the alleged sexual assault of two minors at a school in Badlpur. 

The HC bench pulled up Badlapur police for the delay in recording of statements of the victims familiesm.

Advocate General Birendra Saraf appearing for the state government, said all necessary steps will be taken to protect children. He said a Special Investigation Team (SIT) has been set up for quick action. The court asked the govt to submit an affidavit. The court will hear the matter on August 27.
