The Pimpri-Chinchwad Anti-Terrorist Squad has arrested five Bangladeshi nationals for illegally staying in India without valid documents. This action was taken yesterday in the Shantinagar area of Bhosari. The police are now investigating how much time they have been staying in India and for what purpose.

The apprehended individuals have been identified as Shamim Nurol Rana, Raj alias Samrat Sadan Adhikari, Jalil Naru Shaikh alias Jalil Noor Mohammad Goldar, Wasim Aziz Ulhak Mandal alias Wasim Ajiul Haque Hira, and Azad Shamshul Shaikh alias Abul Kalam Shamshuddin Fakir. Along with these, two other individuals are also booked who assisted them by making their forge documents.

The primary investigation revealed that the accused are Bangladeshi citizens, and they are living in Pimpri Chinchwad without having any license or valid documents. These accused have made counterfeit documents such as fake Aadhaar cards, birth certificates, school leaving certificates, and passports. As soon as the Anti-Terrorist Squad got information about this, they raided and arrested all five accused from Bhosari.

In the following action, police have seized SIM cards of Airtel company and mobile phones worth 11 thousand rupees from the accused. Subsequently, police have registered a case against them under the Foreign Nationals Act, the Passports Act, and the rules of entering India. The police will now investigate the purpose behind their stay in India—were they staying in India for a living purpose or were they planning a terrorist activity in India?

Meanwhile, Pune Police successfully thwarted a major terrorist attack plot in the city. Last year, the police arrested two terrorists while investigating a motorcycle theft case. During the interrogation of Imran Khan and Mohammad Yunus Saki, their fearful behaviour aroused police suspicion. A search of their residence revealed incriminating materials. Subsequently, it was discovered that their third accomplice, who was initially absconding, was a most-wanted terrorist on the NIA list.
