Anti-Narcotics Cell Arrests Two Drug Peddlers in Kondhwa, Seizes Mephedrone Worth Rs 14 Lakh

Pune, September 28, 2024: The Anti-Narcotics Cell has tightened their grip over alleged drug peddlers in the city, taking continuous action against them. In the latest incident, the anti-narcotics cell has arrested two people from Kondhwa area and seized 63 gram of mephedrone from them, whose current market value stands at 14 lakh rupees.

The names of the arrested individuals are Zaheer alias Saad Gani Khan and Aadnan Shabir Sheikh.

During the patrolling in Kondhwa area, police officials received a tip-off suggesting that two individuals had come in front of the Opel Falaq society in Kondhwa and they had mephedrone drugs with them. Accordingly, police arrested both the accused on the spot. In the subsequent search, police also seized 63 gram mephedrone, worth Rs 14 lakh, from them.

This action was taken by the team of Police Inspector of Anti-Narcotics Cell Sudarshan Gaikwad, Assistant Police Inspector Nitin Kumar Naik, Police Sub Inspector Digambar Chavan, Police Constable Azim Sheikh, and others under the guidance of Commissioner of Police Amitesh Kumar, Joint Commissioner of Police Ranjan Kumar Sharma, Additional Commissioner of Police Shailesh Balkawade, Deputy Commissioner of Police Nikhil Pingle, and Assistant Commissioner of Police Rajendra Mulik.

Meanwhile, Police Commissioner Amitesh Kumar has ordered to implement a drug-free Pune campaign in the city to tackle the increasing menace of the circulation of drugs in the city. Many people, especially young ones, are becoming victims of these drugs, making a devastating impact on the city's youth.

It is learnt that the Pune Police have seized mephedrone worth Rs. 3,500 crore in the last nine months. Commissioner of Police Amitesh Kumar has ordered stringent action against drug peddlers in the city. Crime Branch teams have been keeping an eye on traffickers who sell drugs to college youths.
