Pune: DEPUTY Chief Minister Ajit Pawar today denied allegations that he had called up the police in connection with the Porsche fatal accident crash.

''I not inteferred with the police probe. I have never done such a thing. In fact, I was regularly taking updates from Pune police regarding the progress of the case,'' Ajit Pawar told reporters in Mumbai.

Ajit Pawar's reaction came after activist Anjali Damania has demanded the resignation of the Deputy Chief Minister and Pune's Guardian Minister over the rash driving case in Kalyani Nagar in which two innocent youngsters lost their lives.

Damania told reporters in Mumbai that Ajit Pawar should reveal whether he called Police Commissioner Amitesh Kumar on the day of the accident.

Damania said, "Earlier, I posted one tweet in which I raised all my doubts about this case. I was suspicious that the entire police force was working to save the son of a builder." She said that I was suspicious that Ajit Pawar might have called the Pune Police Commissioner, and now various TV channels are reporting the same.

"Why did Ajit Pawar, who otherwise claimed to wake up early in the morning and work for the people, not say anything about the accident in the first four days? Why was he silent about it? Everyone was naming Sunil Tingre in it. But who was the real mastermind behind this?" Damania asked these questions, targeting Ajit Pawar.

Damania asked that the Pune CP should immediately clarify whether Ajit Pawar had called him to suppress the case or not. And if he had called, then the Chief Minister of the state, Eknath Shinde, should demand the immediate resignation of Ajit Pawar. Damania also demanded Fadnavis to seek Ajit Pawar's resignation.

Social activist Vinita Deshmukh has alleged that Sunil Tingre exerted pressure on the police, sparking discussions about attempts to suppress the issue. Ajit Pawar, the guardian minister of Pune city, and Sunil Tingre, the MLA of Vadgaon Sheri, are involved in the controversy. It has been claimed that Tingre was present at the Yerawada police station on the night of the accident and had pressured the Pune Police. Tingare has also denied all allegations while speaking to the media.
