A Festival To Celebrate The Work Of Swarayoginee Dr. Prabha Atre : A Confluence Of Literature, Art And Music.
Pune : A two-day festival centered around the contributions of renowned musician and Padma Vibhushan awardee, Dr. Prabha Atre, will be held in Pune on Saturday, September 21st, and Sunday, September 22nd. This was announced by Dr. Bharati M.D., Secretary of the Dr. Prabha Atre Foundation, and Prasad Bhadsavle, the program director.
Titled "Swarayoginee : Bhaarateeya Sangeetaateel Navonmesha," the festival will be held at Balgandharva Rangamandir. On Saturday, September 21st, from 5 pm to 8 pm, there will be a book launch ceremony for Dr. Atre's books, "Swaramayaee" and "Suswaraalee." The books will be released by renowned flautist, Padma Vibhushan Pandit Hariprasad Chaurasia, and eminent poet, literary critic, and writer Ashok Vajpeyi. Senior journalist and writer Vijay Kuvalekar, and Adv. Ashok Valsangkar, President of the Dr. Prabha Atre Foundation, will also be present.
"Swaramayaee" now in its fifth revised edition, is a collection of Dr. Atre's writings on music, covering various topics such as her musical journey, her gurus, the role of music in education, and her personal and artistic experiences. This work has been awarded by the state government.
"Suswaraalee" now in its fourth edition, includes essays on music theory, its appreciation, criticism, concert structure, challenges in music education, and national policies for the preservation of music.
A documentary tracing Dr. Atre's contributions to literature, art, and music will be screened at the event. The English version of "Aalok," a 19-part educational video series focuing on tha grammar and contemporary performance produced by Dr. Prabha Atre will also be launched.
The first day's program will conclude with a recitation of musical writings from Dr. Atre's books and musical performances based on her compositions. Dr. Keshavchaitanya Kunte, Dr. Vandana Boki-Kulkarni, and Dr. Atre's disciples Chetana Banawat-Pathak and Dr. Atindra Sarvadikar will participate.
On the second day, Sunday, September 22nd, from 10 am to 1 pm, a program based on Dr. Atre's compositions will be held. This will feature a performance by Dr. Manisha Ravi Prakash, daughter of renowned singer Dr. Usha Atre-Wagh, a disciple of Dr. Atre. This will be followed by a performance by renowned classical singer Piu Mukherjee from Kolkata. The program will conclude with a Kuchipudi dance performance based on Dr. Atre's compositions by Vyjayanthi Kashi, a renowned dance guru from Bengaluru.
Accompanying the artists will be Madhav Modak, Pandurang Mukhade (Tabla), Suyog Kundalkar and Leeladhar Chakradeo (Harmonium).
